Meet The Owner
Meet Alfredo Reyes Climaco, he is an immigrant to the United States who originated from Puebla, Mexico. A city of more than 1.5 million people about 80 miles southeast of Mexico City. He took his first job at 9 years old, working 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a butcher and carnitas vendor weekends at the local market. Later on he began helping at his family owned a “Fruteria” which in English translates to “Fruit Store”. He would help out his family and would take the night shifts while his brothers watched over the store in morning while he was at school. This is what sparked his entrepreneurial spirit. From early on he learned the value of hard work and learned about business management through experience. His first bartending job was at a nightclub at age 17.
After arriving to the united states he worked in multiple restaurant jobs until he overcame the biggest obstacle in his way which was the language barrier. A few years later once Climaco had a grasp on the language, he took a trip to Puerto Rico with a friend he made here in PDX. After submerging himself in the Puerto Rican culture, he had the idea of fusing the flavors he grew up with, to those he had just discovered. Once he arrived back he began planning and building his dream of starting his own business while continuing to work to make ends meet. His dream began to flourish in 2015 at the Portland Mercado and later on after opening his fist mobile bar and gaining popularity, he quit his job to focus on MexiRican full time.
The rest is history in the making.
